This Week’s Inspiration

After an uninspiring couple weeks of stressing over taxes, I found this refreshing wall hanging in a cute little Tibetan gift shop in Santa Cruz.

And more yoga but less compassion…

Yoga doesn’t stop when we step off our mats.  In fact, the practice begins when we step off our mat.  To face our reality armed with the tools we’ve learned on our mats.  To be aware of our challenges and find ways to relax into them.  To find compassion for everyone (yes that also includes yourself).  To breathe.

… and that is what I did as I wished Uncle Sam would practice ahimsa on my checkbook.  I was reminded that I needed to practice ahimsa towards myself as I slowly started to slip into self judgement and regret about “I should’ve done this or should’ve done that and I wouldn’t have been in this tax mess, yadah yadah ya.”  My better self tells me to stay present and breathe.

Have an inspiring week!  Taxes are OVER!

  1. i really need to read one of his books, he is so inspirational and amazing.

i do think that we have more yoga but less compassion… and it is something we should strive to improve.

    Many Blessings!

  2. Thanks for sharing this! “More yoga but less compassion”… I so hope this isn’t true, but it definitely feels that way much of the time. And I think having compassion for ourselves can be the hardest thing to do – thanks for the great reminder.

    • Yea certainly feels like that sometimes. Doing yoga doesn’t automatically make one more compassionate. It does plant the seed and is a work in progress 🙂 Thanks for visiting.
