Holiday Mantras

When I think of mantras, I think of the little red caboose (remember the childhood story?) who said, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..”   That’s exactly what mantras are.  They can be considered as powerful and positive sounds, words, or group of words that when repeated or chanted is capable of creating transformation.

Each person and each tradition have different intents for reciting mantras.  Each sound, each word has a different effect based on the intention of the person reciting them.  The word mantra comes from two sanskrit words “manas” which is “mind” and the word “trai” meaning “free from or protect.”

I use mantras to calm my mind while meditating or practicing.  It’s also a great tool to use when I need to hold my tongue otherwise I might regret cursing out the other person.  LOL

Here’s some fun mantras to consider as we wind down to the last week before the holiday madness is over:

Waste not want not.

Reduce.  Reuse.  Recycle.

Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

Enjoy them.  Enjoy them.  Enjoy them.  They’re not here long (the family).

There’s no such thing as a perfect holiday.  (repeat this over and over and over)

It’s only one day out of the year.

My presence is the best gift ever.

K.I.S.S  (Keep it simple, Santa)

I don’t dislike them.. I dislike their behavior.

Inhale.  Exhale.  Inhale. Exhaaaaaaaale.

I will move my feet before I eat.  (Check your local studio.  Most are offering early morning yoga classes.  Get your bliss on!)

and don’t forget to sing….

  1. Love the yoga Christmas tree version, so cute! Good choice switching majors out of biochem – I’m so glad that I survived and am done that class. I just did your holy hips podcast, and it was awesome!
